Stiff Trevillion architects
Commissioned by Derwent London
A drawing made of a strand of seaweed washed ashore, emblematic of an office building’s reception that is in essence a foreshore. Alvo references the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, who’s work strongly inspired the architecture of the offices. Constructed from layers of plywood the work has a functional aesthetic which places it on a boundary between form and function.
“We have collaborated with Hugo on several projects, and collaboration is the key word. Hugo understands the brief and the intellectual path that we have trodden to resolve the architectural issues. He follows the same trail and produces work that is unique and beautiful, work that is part of the finished building, which enhances the spaces we create.”
