Rothamsted Research, 2020
This ongoing project has developed from a long-term collaboration with Rothamsted Research, one of the oldest agricultural research institutions in the world, based in Hertfordshire. It seeks to examine the art historical tradition of landscape: how it has formed national identity and how science has played a part in this process. Rothamsted has been a key player in the evolution of agriculture and therefore how the British countryside has visually changed. Through watercolours and sculptures, the project questions conceptions of the ‘natural’ and the ‘picturesque’.
