Intermezzo, Bronze
256 x 178 x 30cm
Unique
During a residency at the Royal College of Music, London, Dalton made a series of drawings in response to musical performances. Made from hand-rolled bronze ‘Intermezzo’ translates one of these live drawings into sculpture, fixing the transient aural experience into a permanent physical form. Each work is routed in a source performance, in this case of a piece by the Italian Baroque composer Dario Castello (1602-1631), yet it achieves its own autonomy in its transferred state.
