Ink Dance
This experimental performance with Francesca Hayward, Principal of the Royal Ballet, took place behind closed doors at the Piper Building. As Hayward danced to Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata, Dalton simultaneously drew in ink, his evolving images projected in real time onto the wall. Each participant took it in turns to lead, the dancer echoing the drawn lines with her movements, the drawing recording her steps. In this symbiotic relationship fleeting movements are fixed and a duet unfolds.
