Live Performance
Royal College of Music 2015

Following a three-month collaboration with pianist Imma Setiadi a Live visual counterpart was created to accompany a selection of preludes by Claude Debussy. Each prelude’s visual interpretation was based on what might have been going through the composer’s mind at the time of composition. The underlying theme was his documented love of the natural world, which he referred to as his religion. The setup allows video to be streamed onto a table top, on this surface Dalton then draws, paints, cuts tears and places objects in front of the projector lens. The concept being to reinsert human hand and chance into a digital mise en scene.
