Courtauld Symposium, 2018
Dalton participated in the interdisciplinary conference, ‘Art of the Invisible’ at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. The day of papers examined the urge for artists to visualise the invisible, identified as a foundational paradox of art. The theme of the conference resonated with concerns at the core of Dalton’s own practice. Throughout the day he drew the proceedings as they unfolded, both the physical reality of the participants and their surroundings and the concepts explored, seeking to fix intangible or transient moments. Dalton presented a selection of his drawings to the audience at the close of the conference.
