Choreographic Form, 2021
Stainless Steel
468 x 5 x 154cm
‘Choreographic Form’ grew out of a series of drawings made at the Royal Opera House. In 2009 Dalton began collaborating with acclaimed British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and for this body of work he drew Royal Ballet dancers including Principal Marianela Nuñez and First Soloist Fumi Kaneko as they rehearsed ‘Corybatic Games’ with Wheeldon in 2017. The stainless steel sculpture was created for the pocket park in a new development in Charlotte Street, London. Capturing the fluidity and grace of the dancers’ movements, their strength, and the elegance of their lines, the sculpture slips seamlessly and sympathetically into its surroundings.
