Editioned photographs of Light Drawings by artist Hugo Dalton. They mark a new development in the artist’s body of work born out of his wall painting practice. To create them the artist assembled a team including his long time collaborator and renowned photographer Tom Mannion.
The location is disused slate quarry in remote valley in Cumbria, North West of England. The team lugged a huge generator and projection lanterns across a river and up a mountain to create a spectacular momentary installation that interacts with the quarry’s cavernous form. The dramatic images are a mediation mankind’s relation with the brutal remains of past and the eternal hope of a better future.
