The act of drawing from life is the process through which Hugo Dalton discovers meaning. It is a process that generates the conceptual frame for his work. Hugo studied at Goldsmiths College where he began to make work that was in dialogue with the architecture of its location. His open approach has led him to collaborate with well known institutions including the V&A Museum, London, The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Today Museum, Beijing. His collectors include the David Roberts Collection, The Rothschild Family and art patron Kay Saatchi.
Critic Edward Lucie-Smith termed Dalton’s work “…. a rebellion towards elegance”
